No, it was a sadly undiverse selection in my riding this year. Just Conservative, Liberal, NDP and Green. It was the same in 2004.

Back in 2000, we had the choice of the Liberals, Conservatives, Canadian Alliance (Reform), NDP, Green, Marijuana, Canadian Action, marxist-Leninist and Natural Law. Now those were the days! Lots of choice.

Isn't the Natural Law party the one that Doug Henner (the magician) was in? If it is, they believe in Yogic Flying, which goes like this:

"Yogic flying is the purported ability to levitate which is a capability one gains through advanced practice of transcendental meditation. While sitting cross-legged, yogic flyers can move around in a hopping kind of motion. Proponents of yogic flying claim world peace can be brought about by thousands of simultaneous yogic flyers spread world-wide."

I could pick a Marxist-Lennonist or a Communist candidate, but there wasn't a Natural Law one on the ballot.

Yogic flying for peace??? Now that's a new one... I now get a mental image of thousands of Hare Krishna types hopping all over the place...

Yeah, I can see how that would cause peace, people would just fall over themselves laughing...

The old Monty Python quote comes to mind: 'I smash two bricks together for peace'

Until just now, I though you were throwing in a free surgery. That would be pretty appealing, too, I guess...

Doug Henning was the Canadian Natural Law candidate in 1993.
Doug Henning

It seems that the Natural Law Party is everywhere - Canada, US, Israel, Great Britian, etc. But it also appears as though they have ceased being a political party in some countries - turning their focus toward global peace through transcendental mediation. I couldn't get the main site to load, but the individual country-based sites loaded quickly.
