I used ebookers before but STA gave me a good quote for my flight.
So with all that booked they now email me and say they've made a mistake and there is another £54 to pay on each ticket so this is £100 more than they said-and theyve taken the £600 that they quoted me in the first place.
I then phone them, they say we'll call you back (as at 9.30am-they're not open and he hasnt got his computer set up!) and have i had a phone call yet-NO!
I thought STA had a good reputation.
They'd better pay it or sort it coz they're not having more money off me.
It all seems very dodgy to me. I even had to photocopy my card and post it to them as they need to see the card apparantly, altho they had my card number over the phone and debited the money!!
Am i just being paranoid, phoned my bank asking if they could stop them taking anymore money...and that was useless!
Do they have an office near you? Perhaps you'd feel better dealing them in person?
Yeah if you are near enough a branch then pop in and see them maybe?It is a bit worrying. Personally Ive never had any problems with them, eveytime I go anywhere I book through them and I always go and see the same girl as shes amazing and super helpful. Even when I had a bit of a drama whilst in Bangkok they bent over backwards and even called me at the hostel after my mum had been to see them about my predicament!Only thing that happened to me was I went and booked paid my deposit and when I went to pay my full amount and get my insurance the following week the taxes had suddenly increased by £100 and because I hadnt purchased insurance on the spot I had to pay the rest.But I would definatley contact a branch and explain the full story,maybe you got someone who wasnt so reliable when you called up so just ring and say you need to speak to someone NOW!!Hope you get it sorted!
If you had already paid the full amount that you were quoted earlier, rather than just a deposit, they should have held the ticket at that price. If it's gone up due to them making a mistake, I can't see any possible way for them to get you to pay....
It's only when there's a lag between when they quote you and when you pay the full amount that there can be a price increase really.

I'd make your displeasure very, very clear and tell them that you refuse to pay any more money because of their error.
I'm hoping that they emailed you details of the flight (flight number, cost, etc) so that you can tell them that you have proof of the cost that they provided, and that you have simply paid the cost which they quoted.
I'd also tell them that if you knew the price was going to be an extra 104 pounds, you wouldn't have gone ahead with the booking as the quote would not have been competitive at that price.
If you get no satisfaction from the comsultant, demand to speak to the manager and again make it clear that you have no intention of paying.
I'd also remind them that you have not authorised them to take the extra money from your credit card, and that if they attempt to do so you'll report them to your bank.
Finally, what I always do is turn the situation back on to them, and ask them what they'd do if it would happen to them? Would they be prepared to happily pay the money, or would they be upset like you are?
Remind them that you are the one being reasonable, and they are the ones being unreasonable.

Thanks very much guys, it had been bugging me all weekend but he finally rang me back and said that he couldnt see a problem with it and that if they'd underestimated they would pay and it wouldnt effect me at all as its their fault!-too right.
I'm guessing that the lady i spoke to before was new (well she is on a training course all week, lol!) he seemed like he knew what he was talking about!
I have all my flight details etc. which is all good.
Phew-thats a huge weight off my shoulders, something always happens to me! a lil blip wont stop me!

Jas, I think that's pretty good of the guy admitting that it was their fault and effectively telling you not to worry about it. Most companies would rather argue than admit an error. Good on STA!
P.S - yes, we will certainly have to get together for a longer period next time.

Hey Rob, ive just replied to you, let me know. Hope you get it solved. Because you've given your sonsent for the extra money to be taken it may be a bit tricky claiming it back. Just use all the jargon and make a fuss if needs be.
