Travel Forums Travel Companions 2007 Gap year!

Hey, I know it's all a bit early to plan, but I'm just finishing my second year at uni, and will be taking a gap year in May 2007 or so. Will be with friends part of the time, but there are countries that I dont want to go to that my friends do etc, and the other way round, so just wondering if anyone is as excited or sad enough to plan this so soon if you wanna chat. Countries I mainly wanna go to would be: South East Asia, India, South and central American and Australia!

Hi Claire,

I too am starting to think about planning a trip in 2007. I have just graduated and am off to live and teach in Japan for a year. COntract ends in April but want to go travelling round SE Asia and Aus and NZ for a few months after. Will be finishing work at the start of April and then dont have any plans so will take as long as i need to travel and see everything that i want. How long were you thinking of travlling for? DO you know where you will do with ur mates and where you will be by your self?

Ive travelled throughout Europe before, but never gone ne further so have lots of general travel knowledge, but not much on the specific areas.

Let me know if u want to chat.

Hi Claire and Nicola!

I'm starting my Gap Year September 2006 and working in San Francisco for 6 months.
So I wanna start travelling in March 2007.

I wanna travel through Ecuador or Kilimanjaro, in April and May or anywhere really. I'm flexible about the destination so maybe we can sort something out?

If not, I'm going to the East Coast of Australia in June so like Sydney, Cairn, Brisbane. I know you both wanna go to Australia so maybe we could plan something then?

Hope to hear from you,
Take Care,

Ange

Hi,

I will be starting my travels in Japan so think i will want to start in Asia and then perhaps go to Australia and New Zealand after, so would be happy to meet there in June time. Alternateivly, somewhere in Asia would be cool as well. Want to see as much as possible but dont really mind what i see, just depends on the prices of tickets and stuff that i can get.

Let me know what your plans are.

Nicola

Hey Nicola,

I'm really sorry but there's a change of plans.

I'm going to Australia in April 'cause my friends are going then so it makes sense to go then too...

And so I'm travelling in May and June. Maybe Ecuador, Cambodia, India, Goa, Kilimanjaro, I'm pretty flexible about the destination...

Sorry, but maybe we can still sort something out?

Honestly, there are no problems, seeing as how it is so far away there are definately going to be changes in plans etc as the year goes on.

I think we may have slightly different ideas bout where to go though as im looking more at singapore, hong kong, vietnam then onto Aus and NZ rather than doing the India route. I think im going to head southwards rather than accross, jsut cos its easier.

Doesnt mean that im not willing to think about other places, cos as i said, just want to see as much as i can without spending too much money!!

Hey guys,

Sounds like we all have similar plans. Im planning to go to Australia in January 2007, nothing beats early planning :D. Im going out in August of this year to suss out the West Coast but plan to do the East coast in January. I was going to do a work travel programme, pretty self explanatory lol work while i travel so can keep making money to go to different cities. Don't know if this fits what any of you guys had in mind but i plan to be there for at least 6 months. If your popping out later like in April or May and need help when you get there, providing i know myself whats going on :) id be glad to help.
