I was thinking about maybe travelling to Libya for a few days whilst I am in Egypt.... is it easy to obtain a visa and book a tour from Egypt? or would I have to cross the boarder a book a tour from Libya?

Many thanks!

I'd be interested in knowing the answer too! I have an European friend working in Tripoli and we are thinking about meeting there when I will be in Egypt for a 12-day trip in late June this year.

I have spoken with a few travel agents here in Taiwan and they don't have experiences in applying Libyan tourist visas. I browsed the internet and some sources indicated that the Libyan visa can be applied while in Egypt. Some website even indiates they can do online applications and the visa can be obtained at the airport in Lybia - I wonder if these are reliable sources

Appreciate any response -

I've been to Egypt about 5 to 7 times and never had any shots. The only shot I would get is Tetinus personally. Some of the other ones don't work very well and a few are not 100% safe. You should do some research and not just fill up your body with a ton of sh*t you don't know anything about. I've been to a lot of poor countries (India, Nepal, all over Brazil, Peru, Philippines, etc) and never gotten any shots but I'm careful with the water, Ice, food, etc. Like ALWAYS get bottled water (make sure the cap is factory sealed) NEVER buy street vendor food, NEVER eat salads unless they use filtered tap water to wash it...simple stuff, read up on it... Libya visa is not that easy (I am Norwegian (Schengen), and it might differ from other countries)). You will need an invitation and it took me three days (express) to get it. Libya have a lot of nice places to see though, and I think there is some Italian cruises going over that might help you get the visa
