There are a wide spread of campsite throughout the United States. Thing is, some kinda be kind of small and others can allow you access to rafting, walking, hiking etc. The best places you could research are Western Virginia, Colorodo, California. You might try looking at Yellowstone National Park, back west. That doesn't mean that easn't anythiing to offer on the east coast.

Hey, The best place with the ten weeks that you have (wow) would be in the Rocky Mountain region of the US-Utah, Wyoming, Nevada and Colorado. The Yellowstone National Park, is in Wyoming. There you can probably white-water raft or go rock climb. But if you don't just want to go camping, but also want to go to the beaches and party go to California-they have everything from swimming, to camping to clubs, to skiing!!

What kind of activities are you interested in? Since you will be camping for the first half of your stay are you going to be interested in more outdoorsy activities for the second half or are you looking to visit cities?

If you want to visit the parks and continue with your outdoor theme - I would suggest that you look into a National Park Pass to save money with entrance fees. Zion and Bryce are beautiful to visit in Utah - Yellowstone is great, but there are too many people that visit in the summertime, giving it more of a disney world feel, unless you are willing to hike into the backcountry. I would opt to see the Grand Tetons over Yellowstone. Mt. Rainier in Washington has some fanastic views and wonderful hiking opportunities. The Everglades in Florida are worth a visit, especially if you are into kayaking and canoeing. Just do not go in the summertime, or you will be eaten alive by mosquitos.

It is hard to suggest places without knowing what you are interested in. The United States is a big place! I guess that overall - I would suggest coming out West if you are interested in visiting National Parks, as there are far fewer people. The East is better though, if you are trying to stick to the cities. These are just my opinions, but I have travelled and lived throughout the U.S.
