hello all...on planning our trip we have encountered yet another problem...one of the girls that is coming with us to oz applied for a visa last yr (whv) and got it however she was going with her boyfriend and they broke up so she didnt use it. the visa runs out in march and the visa company rang her to remind her about using it and they said that if she were to apply for a second she might not get it...and that it is a lottery for the second working holiday visa...is this true?

Definitely not true: And there is no lottery system.
You have 12-months from the date of the visa being granted to enter Australia. Once you enter you have 12-months from the date of entry to stay and work and play. If you have already entered Australia (and I gather you haven't) you cannot reapply for the visa.

You can now do one of two things: 1/ Simply let the visa lapse. Once the 12-months from visa grant expires it is no longer valid; then reapply later in life (as long as you have not yet turned 31 at the time of application). 2/email the working holiday help desk [[email protected]] and ask them to cancel your visa. There is no refund. You should especially do this if you decide to come to Australia on another type of visa [like a tourist visa]and your WHV hasn't expired.

If this doesn't make sense please simply email me with any questions.

Cheers.
