Hi there
Just signed up here and like it a lot. You guys have a lot of useful tips to share. I was wondering about if anyone knows how to get in touch with people of the country you are gonna travel to? My plan is eastern Europe now in May and it would be great to maybe have a few locals to meet up with!
Any ideas anyone?

Hi Sonja,

Hopefully Peter/Sam won't mind me giving the link to a semi-rival site (if you do, my apologies, and feel free to delete the link), but a i find that www.virtualtourist.com is very good for getting contacts in places you are going to visit. Most of the regular people there are more than willing to meet up/show you around etc. Have a look.

Hi Sonja,

No worries. Have a fantastic trip!

Btw, although i can't claim to be a local, i go to Eastern Europe regularly for work, so if you want/need to ask anything else, feel free. Might even be in parts of it during May/June, but far too early to tell yet!

Hey Sonja,

We had a thread a while back about finding people who would be willing to let you stay at their place -- a few sites were mentioned where people would also just show you around. Here's a link to the thread:

And of course you can also see if anyone here is interested in meeting up..

Rich, no problem mentioning our friendly competitors at virtualtourist as long as you solemnely swear not to spend any time there
