This thread has prob been started before in the past but l thought l will use my new status to plead ignorance of it but - WHATS YOUR FAVOURITE CITY IN THE WORLD & WHY?

For me l loved Bangkok - it was hectic, l loved the shanty villages around the river - the high tech sky train, the markets where you can by fake anything and haggle, its seedy yet high class and culturally diverse. It has some of the best food in the world and where you dont have to pay through the nose for it either.

Purdy...great minds think alike!I would say mine is also Bangkok, I love the place so much!Im a total city girl so I thrive on hectic, noise, aromas and the occasional bit of filth!I love Bangkok, I love the tuk-tuks all over the place, the constant buzz, bartering at markets, the temples!!!!Amazing!!!
If I were to say my favourite European city I would say Rome....fantastic food, good wine and breathtaking things to see!
However I also have a penchant for New York but all in all Bangkok is the one that gets my heart racing the most!

Rome for me, just beautiful all over, with New York a close second. I do like Bangkok though.

For most people I've met, Bangkok is a bit like marmite, you either love it or hate it. I love it. It was my first introduction to Asia and I like it for exactly the reasons Purdy has mentioned, and the East-West modern-traditional blend. And its such great fun.

I think Sydney is a great city. loved it.
