I'm going to Japan March 13-21. I'll be going to Osaka, Kyoto, Nagano, & Tokyo. I know it's going to be cold (I've found average temperatures to be btw. low 20's to low 50's F), but does anyone know if it's still going to be snowing at any of these cities, or if it's going to be really muddy due to melting snow? I'm more concerned with Nagano. Will there be snow here when we go to see the Japanese Macaques at the Monkey Park? Thanks!
As far as i was aware Japan is actually quite warm in March, not sure about the specific areas you mentioned, but it is around 20 degrees C rather than F. Of course, things change year on year, so not sure what is expected this year.
yeah, it'll be really cold in nagano especially this year, we had a lot more snow than usual. so definitely bring a warm jacket. Kyoto is usually quite cold as well because it is surrounded by mountains.
Here in Tokyo winter will be finishing and spring starting. Around 10 degrees C and no rain. If you can be around for the cherry blossom parties you would be for a real spectacle.
Keep on keepin on...
Osaka, Kyoto and Tokyo rarely get snow even in mid-winter, so by March I'm sure you'll be fine. Nagano, though, might be a different story -- I've never been there, though, so you'll have to find out from someone else.
