Maybe a little bit harder without qualifications.

If you are a little worried now, i suggest you look at give you a better idea of the employment market in australia and what kind of jobs are out there for you.

I wouldn't worry too much. There's a lot of unskilled work about. A bit of hospitality experience would certainly help you a lot.

Depending on where you are going getting work shouldnt be a problem if you willing to do anything, any kind of hospitality work is pretty easy to come by as is fruit picking, coming in June there will be less tourists competing for the jobs than you get in Summer.
Other good sites to look for work are and carreer1,as well as picking up work at hostels.
Best bet is just lye on your C.V. No is gunna ring up the U.K to check on your experience.
Hope you do well.

It depends on where you are going to be in terms of getting a job. There are lot more jobs in Sydney and Melbourne then say Perth. But if its unskilled work, something like bar work wont be a major drama. strayalien is right though, lie on your resume. Im an Australian who lives in London and have done the same over here. No one will bother ringing another country to check references. At worst they'll want to email your references, in which case you create a fake email up. I had a friend do that in London. He had no trade expereince what so ever, but managed to bullsh*t his way into a 600pound a week job as a carpenter.

Hey, im travelling to oz next year, been looking into the work and travel company, how have you found them so far, which programme are you going on? Im travelling for the first time and will be on my own and have been told its provides a good safety net for first time travellers, is it worth the money? If anyone else has been with this company could you let me no how it went. Thanks

Well im not going on a program. i was going to but my cousin lives over there so i have that little bit of back up if anything goes wrong. She also works at seek! its a recruiting agency or something. take a look at the website tha other person told you about. but im just gunna have a week holiday wen i get there n chill! then sort a job out. its supposed to be easy. Even if its just bar work. Im not going over until july tho. seems like time is dragin!

Seek isn't really any help at all for working holiday visa holders. Wrong market. There are dedicated working holiday job sites. You won't have annnyyyyy trouble finding them because they are shoved down your throat from everywhere the moment you land. You'll be fighting them off. Which is why, Liz1986, you must be careful about what you pay for before you go, and what they promise.

Hi Liz I was going on the ultimate aussie experience as well but majito gave me some other web sites which look good so im reconsider it. Two of my friends are over in oz now with the work and travel company and have said they really made them feel safe, they where worried about not being able to find a job etc. They have gone on the same progamme as you and said it is very helpful.
