Hi all,

I'm currently on a one year work visa in canada and am on a extremely tight budget.

Anyway I have a really sad story but its personal and not to do with me so I'm not going to mention it here.

I just need to be in cairns on feb 25th and am wondering if anyone knows of any good websites/agencies that do cheap flights to australia.

Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated.

I will fly from America, Canada, England or Ireland whichever is cheapest......

Cheers
Niamh

Go into Flight Centre, they should be able to help you out with finding the cheapest flight. I flew here from London for $1100AUD (my flight on Zoom to London was $199CAD). I don't think you will find anything under $1000, but you may want to check out prices from LAX, they sometimes have cheaper flights than anywhere else. Have you tried sites like www.travelocity.ca or orbitz.com?

If it is due to a death in the family, you can sometimes get special rates, but you will need to prove the death to the airline and they are not usually that much cheaper.

Quoting crass

Most (?) travel insurance would cover situations like that as well (covering all transport costs incurred due to death or life-threatening illness of family to the 2nd degree). Given the semi far-away feb 25th deadline though, I'll be hopeful and assume that nothing like that is the case.
So yeah, I'll echo crass: go into a cheap travel agency, and let them work it out. They'll know about all the special fares that are available. Don't settle for the first thing they come up with, either, but first let them sift through options on one route, and then another ("what can you do if I fly from ... instead"). If you start to feel bad about how long you're tying up any one person there, move on to another cheap travel agency. (Assuming of course that you're in a big city that has a large number of them easily accessible.)

Hi Crass, Hi Sander
Just a quick thanks for the response. I'm unfortunately in the back end of nowhere lol so there are no agencies nearby. I have gone on every website possible but the flights are way out of my price range.

Nobody has died, it was just something I felt I needed to do but I will have to forget about it.

Thanks for the advice all the same :o)
Much appreciated.;)

Hi there,
I'm living in Canada right now and I normally buy my airfare from travelcuts. I find them to be pretty cheap. I just actually bought a plane ticket (return) to australia from halifax, Nova Scotia and it cost me 1599.00 with taxes and surcharges included. anyway try travelcuts because they're normally pretty reasonable, sometimes they have student or youth discounts if you're under the age of 26
good luck :)

Hey,

I booked a flight with 'onlinetravel.com' from London to Sydney and that only cost £435. Only $1020 I think. Thats the cheapest I could find.
