Are there various entry points into USA from Mexico along the border?

I need to get to Austin in Texas. Is that straight forward enough?

Thank you

These are the legal border entry points, from Mexico into Texas:

Someone else may be able to tell you the specific entry point that will be most useful to you. But, it will depend on where you will be in Mexico when you plan to enter the US.

Gateway International Bridge POE, Brownsville, TX
Brownsville/Matamoros Bridge POE, Brownsville, TX
Hidalgo POE, McAllen-Hidalgo-Reynosa International Bridge, McAllen, TX
Los Indios POE, Free Trade Bridge at Los Indios, Los Indios, TX
Los Tomates/Veterans International Bridge POE, Brownsville, TX
Pharr POE, Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge, Pharr, TX
Progreso POE, Progreso/Nuevo Progreso International Bridge, Progreso, TX
Rio Grande City POE, Starr-Camargo Bridge, Rio Grande City, TX
Roma POE, Roma-Ciudad Miguel Alem[aacute]n Bridge, Highway 83 and International Border, Roma, TX
Del Rio POE, Del Rio/Cuidad Acuna International Bridge, Garfield Avenue and International Border, Del Rio, TX
Eagle Pass Bridge I POE, Eagle Pass/Piedras Negras Bridge, Highway 57 and International Border, Eagle Pass, TX
Eagle Pass Bridge II POE, Camino Real International Bridge, Highway 57 and International Border, Eagle Pass, TX

I also recommend talking with one of the immigration offices in Mexico to work out the details of your entry and make sure that all of your documents are in order. A US Consulate Office will also be able to answer your questions more precisely.

Just go to Greyhound Mexico http://www.greyhound.com.mx/ where at an agent you can purchase a through bus ticket to Austin, via Laredo, Texas where'll you'll change from Mexican carrier to US Greyhound and go right up I35 to Austin.

If you are not driving best to obtain tourist card (6 months) free any Mexican Consulate, if driving you'll need to check with Mexican Consulate for all particulars, bond your vehicle at the real border..which is about 15 miles beyond the border towns and course purchase Mexican Auto Insurance the length of your stay on US side of the border. Some of the Mexican Border Towns are very dangerous places due to trafficking, etc. now..don't hang around. The luxury buses now take you to and from respective terminals in say El Paso/Juarez, Laredo/Nuevo Laredo and Reynosa/Matamoros more travel info. on http://www.mexconnect.com/
