Have been looking at New Dehli for June of this year - has anyone been there - is it really hot and uncomfortable for travelling and sight seeing. Just lve been reading a guide and it stated it gets up to 45 degrees!!

Any thoughts?

Also any hotel recommendations?

Hi,
Delhi is extremely hot in June. I would not recommend visiting the city at that time. I visited Delhi in July 2003 and it wasn't too bad. I am not awakre of the hotel situation since I was staying with people there.

Hi

Went to India in June 2004, it was very hot but it was bearable. Avoid going to Agra in June as well because temperatures can soar up to more than 45 degrees.

Try the Karol Barg area and the Pahar Ganj ( near the Delhi railway station) for accomodations. They are cheap and clean and as an added bonus they are near markets:)

Hope this helps

Hi Purdy,

The monsoon season(rainy season) starts in Delhi from end June...sometimes get delayed by a week or so..
So you will find June would be hot but not 45 deg.C in June..
The peak summer is in May..so don't worry still you can visit june as you have no choice.

Suggest you to avoid lodges in and around Pahar Ganj area where most of the first time travellers are taken for a ride! Suggest you Karol bagh area where there are any lodges and all facilities are within your reach. There are plenty of restaurants in that area.

Ask me if you need more information.

Thank you for your replies l think we are moving away from India in June now as it may be too warm and hotels with pools are taking our budget over its limit as we are only travelling for a short period of time! But India in general is definately on my places to visit list!

A good and relaxed place in Delhi is the tibetan colony north of old-Delhi (Majnu-ka-tilla). Its off the busy and chaos of Paharganj and very relaxed. You may reach it by metro these days....
