I have searched the forums and not really found any good reviews, when I search for hostels in NY I get loads so I was hoping to get some help here ...
Has anybody stayed in any good (or half-decent) hostels in New York. If so, could you please tell me where are the best places to stay.
I stayed in a couple of them just last month, and my favorite was the Chelsea one. Cute happy neighborhood, friendly fellow hostel goers, rooms not packed with 15 people... I'd suggest requesting one of the rooms in the back, on the ground floor. Nicer bathrooms etc.
The other I stayed in was farther uptown, west side of the park... International something something? It was super clean, cleaner than Chelsea, but less nice area, less friend-making amongst the hostellers. Oh, but they had a bunch of tours and nights out and things you could go on for small fees.
Actually, they're both good.
The area down near alphabet city has some good places.
i just came back from "jazz on the park" jazzonthepark.com
it is ok, bed is less than 25 $ out of season, but you have private rooms for 40$+. they change bedding every other day, bathroom is ok, people are cool, staff too. you have free" breakfast" bagel, butter and coffee/tea. secured rooms, and if girls are alone, girl dorms as well. very close to train. altogether i had great experience with this one, hope you would too.
Thanks folks, will check these out!!
