Hi Tyler,

This question has been asked again and again in System Talk, and believe it or not, virtually nobody knows exactly how to tell!

With the exception of "First time poster" which is self explanatory, the assignment of other titles are based on "points" that you obtained by posting on the forums (but not all forums), photos you uploaded that's been selected and featured on the main page, and your blog entries (if you have a blog set up in TP). With so many variables to be taken into account, it is hard to tell. But one thing I have observed is that it takes an average of about 50-100 posts for one to become a Full Member. One will need more posts to achieve that if he/she is very active in the Off-Topic forums. You have 43 posts only at the moment and you're already a full member! Well done! ;)

For Travel Gurus, there are limited seats available for title holders. Only a few at the top can have that seat. So work your way up and knock the one of them out of their title! It has happened before! But I bet you will not be able to beat our top member, Her Excellency Miss CupCake, our resident Chocolate Queen. (A word of warning: Do NOT mess with her chocolate!)

Travel Guru, that's basically the highest you could go, unless you're appointed a moderator that comes with special powers!

Yep, it's definitely a complicated script that figures out these titles. I was just looking at it the other day and still have to figure it out myself (and that's while I can see what is taken into consideration!!). It's kind of like Google's mysterious page ranking methods ;)

One of the main things taken into consideration is forum posts (outside of the Off topic forum). On top of this, big plusses go to featured photos and featured blog entries, besides of course regular blog entries and photos being counted.

We do update the script from time to time to slot in with newer features, like for example the recently launched 'Refer Members' function.
