In a couple of weeks me and a buddy are setting out on our RTW trip, starting in Rio de Janeiro during carnivalseason. We have planned to spend a couple of days in Rio before heading south towards Buenos Aires. We have aproximately 3 weeks on the trip from Rio to BA. Is there anyone that have some experience from this area? what to do, what to see, what to be aware of?
I would be very grateful for those who would take the time helping me.
Nothing to worry about (exept your wallet ). The only thing you should be concerned is the short time....
You will see celebratios and places that you'll never forget!
But let's try:
- At least 1 1/2 wks in Rio.
- Take a bus (or a airplane - www.gol.com.br www.tam.com.br) to florianópolis. Stay there the remaining time.
Places to go in rio: Rio and Buzios. Be aware and dont carry valuable cameras/watches/etc. Lots of street parades free of charge... real carnival!
Places to go in Floripa: Balneario/Bombinhas/Floripa itself.

I would also stop over on the way from Rio to Buenos Aires in Iguazu and see the falls. One day on either side of the falls should be sufficient.
what about Ihla Grande? It just looks amazing.
