I'm travelling from bangkok to singapore for 6 weeks as part of my stop over on a flight to melbourne. the thing is i will have a backpack for travelling and another suitcase full of stuff i don't want to have to drag along with me, but will need for winter season in OZ and NZ... apart from paying the £180 to get it shipped to melbourne, has anyone got a better idea of how to get it there? can i get the air service to take it on to melbourne airport and pick it up when i arrive? is there any way to get it sent from bangkok to singapore safely and securely so it's still there when i arrive?? thanks for any ideas!
I note you have shipping costs so I guess you have looked at the various excess luggage companies, who air freight things round the world? if not, there are loads of such organisations, most of which have websites . . .so it might be worth trying a search engine . .good luck!
The best things to do would be to try and pack everything into the backpack after culling! It shouldn't be too hard to cater for multiple seasons in one bag, you just have to be very picky about what you take and plan to wash your clothes every few days.
I doubt you will manage to get the airlines to send it for you as part of your existing ticket without you being on the plane. There are a lot of security measures and this is the kind of thing they try to protect against. Shipping seems like the only other option to me. Let us know what you decide or what you find out though.
