Its really easy to get contact lenses in Thailand. Any larger places, Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Krabi, Phuket etc have opticians where you can buy different types of contact lenses at a really good price, you just need to know your prescription. You can also get solutions, rewetting drops and all that stuff. I bought a whole load and sent them home.

Look out for a big chain of opticians called "Top Charoen Optical" There's one on Khao San Road.

What about glasses? I presume it'll be cheap in Bangkok but what about the range and also how certain can you be that the glasses are genuine?

My friend got a few pairs of glasses made in Bangkok, cos they were so much cheaper than Australia. He also got some done in Vietnam and kept banging on about how good they were. It all seemed alright, as long as you know the prescription details.

We were sat in a cafe on KSR about 4 hours later and he dropped them and they broke. But I think its more cos they were the rimless ones, which are more fragile. There was quite a good range, in fact, he chose the pair and cos they were rimless, the optician could cut the glass into the exact shape he wanted.

I should've got some done.
