thanks peeps. yehh it's always been some sort of a dream to see Greece.
too bad I've oredi booked my package ages ago, and im staying in Heraklion.Damn. I guess it'll be alrite..we'r renting a car so we prob will beach-hop everyday to the beautiful beaches on the other side.
Could you guys advise how i could go island-hopping?
How did you guys travel from one island to the next? Did u hafta book the boat tix in advance? the tix dont seem too cheap for the tight-budgeted me
Stalis in Crete is lovely (a bit quiet, but it's in walking distance to Malia which is much more lively).
Rhodes is nice too. I'd stay away from Faliraki if I was you though. Anfandou is a nice little place nearby.
The best Greek island of all though has to be Zakinthos!! - Especially Kalamaki and Vasillikos...they are beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!!
I've been to Naxos and it was beautiful, the people there are really friendly too. We stayed in a really nice apartment which was dirt cheap called Windmill Naxos, I'm sure it's on the internet if you look it up.
I totally agree with Ana: The best greek Island -I've been to- is Zakynthos!!
situated at the western side of the Peloponessos peninsula, it is less visited than the archipel between Crete and the mainland. But much worth a visit! Great beaches with 1 meter-sized turtles swimming below you in the bay. Great nightlife, beautiful scenery (Don't miss the seaside caves in the north). Taste the famous Zakynthos retsina wine!
Oh Kos - I love Kos!!!
I have been there when I was 12, 23 and 32 and I love it!!!!
Kos is where I want to be!!!
I have visited Corfu, Skiathos and Kefalonia and I must say that my favourite is Kefalonia followed by Skitahos. Corfu was also good, but we were staying in the main tourist area which meant that we had to go far by car everyday to get to some nice beaches etc.
We went to Kos this year and Rhodes the year before.Dont know where we are going to try next as we fell in love with both places. We got lots of advise and eventually booked through the internet. We usedwww.holidayholidayholiday.co.uk/.They helped us a lot so maybe try them & see if they can help you.Happy travelling.
I have a trip planned for mid-September to Santorini. I am wondering what I should expect to spend on meals/entertainment each day. Probably will have a combination of some fancy dinners, with some more moderate dinners, as well as street food, for lunches/breakfasts.
I went to Santorini in Mid-May, and spent about 50-60 Euros for 2 people. This included one nice dinner, decent but not elaborate lunch, and the odd snacks/breakfast.
I believe September should be similar to May in terms of tourist crowd - so it may cost similar. I'd say around 20-30 Euros per person. You could go much cheaper ofcourse by having Gyros for lunch and dinner ;-) Likewise, you could go much expensive by tasting exotic wines. House wines are usually very cheap and they serve by the Liter!
