Has anyone done the TransMongolia Train from Moscow to Beijing passing by Ulaan Bataar...
I am doing it in a couple of months, however I have some questions about it.
Is it better to do it with a tour company, i found one that takes care of the train tickets, accomodation and sort of things for a resonable price... the other option is just buying the tickets from a Russian tour operator and then just kind of go with the wind, staying as long as i want in any place and finding my own accomodation... i'm a bit scared with the languages and not being able to find the accomodation or things like that..
Check out my travel advice that I posted in my blog here: Trans-Mongolian trip report.
I just did the trip in October, so the prices I list are pretty recent. You can use that to determine if the tour operator is a good deal or not.
I also give some advice on language in there. Russia isn't bad, but Chinese is very hard. You might be able to find someone to help you out. People are very nice.
When are you leaving exactly?
I am going ho have a 3 weeks journey with the Trans-Mongolian railway from Siberia to Mongolia. I will leave in a couple of weeks. I am still missing an exact plan for mongolia...In siberia I will concentrate in the region of Baikal see....Which are your plans?
