I will be travelling to South East Asia pretty soon, and am there to soak up as much culture as possible. I have heard of bath houses in Japan, and I think maybe turkey also, but I was wondering if there were any in Southeast Asia. And also, what are they exactly? Is it kind of like a spa? Do you actually bathe in the same water as other people? Are there health risks if that is the case?
Someone please enlighten this ignorant American!
I didnt encounter any whilst in south east asia but we had a couple of run ins with them whilst in Japan!!!The place we were staying at had basically a communal bathing area and yes, the water is shared as there are several people in with you at the same time and in addition you arent expected to wear bikinis or trunks or anything!!!!On another occassion My friend caused quite a stir by strolling in all her glory and being the only westerner she was quite the focal point and her big boobs seemed to cause much pointing and giggling!!!!So funny!!!!!Well thats Japan, Im assuming with a bit of research you probably could find one in SEA but Im assuming theyre a bit rarer as in Japan they seem to be the norm!!!I just longed for a private shower!!!!!
I don't think there is in SE Asia, as it's not a norm like Twinkle said. And being in such a hot weather here, I'd rather go for a cooling shower instead!
