Hello, I'm an 18 year old Canadian gal and joined up here so I can find out more about Scotland. Me and my cousin are going there in September for a month to do some sightseeing and touching of roots, as it were. We're quite enthralled with our Scottish heritage and extremely excited for this trip. Just wanna know if anyone out there might be able to give us some tips on some hostels and other cheap places that are top notch and such! We've already got plans to go to Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Aberdeen, then after that we're just going to wander from place to place wherever it pleases us. I haven't been anywhere outside of British Columbia, aside from Banff and Jasper in Alberta, or just on the other side of the US border :D I haven't even been on a plane!!!! I'm what you might call a "travel virgin"... aside from car trips. I've been on PLENTY of those haha.

I really don't have much to say, though. I'm horrible with words! But if anyone has anything they can tell me about Scotland traveling in September, that would be super-duper fantastic!

Hello there!welcome to TP!!!!A lot of my heritage is Scottish too and I accompanied my cousin whilst tracing our family tree....we spent a lot of time in Oban which is very North of Scotland....its lovely up there and we had a lot of family from the isle of Stornaway and it was beautiful!!!Cant remeber where we stayed but Oban has a lot of cheap family run Bed and breakfasts!Edinburgh is so much fun....visit the castle and the National portrait gallery and theres the zoo as well!!!Nightlife is great, very vibrant!!!!Glasgow is equally as fun!!Try and visit the highlands also, amazing!!!Dunno if your interested but the train service GNER runs some cheap trips to places around England if you wanted to see more of the country...Newcastle (thats where Im originally from!)is only an hour away from edinburgh and its only 4 and a half hours to London from edinburgh too!and go to Loch ness also, you may see the famous monster and loch lomond is beautiful!
