I will be travelling trough thailand laos and cambodia on my own for two months at the end of feb,
Is it safe for just one person to travel through these countries??
AND WHATS THE MOONSOON SEASON LIKE IN FEB MARCH??
IS THERE ANY HOSTELS BECAUSE I WANT TO MEET OTHER PEOPLE OR IS IT JUST GUESTHOUSE WITH ROOM FOR YOUESELF
i sent you a PM with my email......give me a heads up, i will be in that area and am looking for a travel partner..... my timeframe is virtually identical to yours...i have to be back in Vancouver no later than May 1 for school
I am sure you will be keeping to the standard routes mentioned in the travel guides unless you are going off the beaten track in which case it is wise to ask around (hmm....TP is a good place, ugh?)if you have decided on the routes and places. i have travelled through these countries a number of times -solo...and amazingly,I found people to be helpful, friendly...but where mass tourism rears its ugly head, you are just another tourist to be preyed upon by...
The wet season in these countries is over...it's hot...and the occasional afternoon showers and thunderstorms...and so long as you keep the standard routes, you will find enough hostels/guesthouses...
I went to South East Asia alone and had a fabulous time!I never felt threatened or scared and I never ever felt lonely as I met so many people and never ended up being on my own unless I chose to have so Me time!!!So it was cool, you meet people on buses, trains, hostels, sitting in a bar!!!I actually met up with 3 people from this website and we had such a laugh and did a lot of travelling together!!!!
Well why don't you go ahead to Vietnam after Cambodia. You will love our country i bet. It's very easy from cambodia to vietnam just few hours by bus.
You should be fine travelling in these countries alone. I assume you're male right? I've seen plenty of girls travelling on their own as well.
Be more careful in Vietnam, as this country seems to be full of scammers, met plenty of people who had their wallets stolen, but that was over tet new year or when they were drunk. Just be very cautious if you plan on going drinking, as that's when people seem to get mugged. Other then that, I have found that people are generally friendly & helpful. I am currently in Camdodia at the moment and really enjoying myself. You'll find lots of children randomly walking up to you asking you questions as they love to practise their english!
Good luck & have fun!
