I don't know if this subject has been posted before, but I'd love to hear everyone's answers as to what your favourite travel quote is. I've got two favourites to share:
"A man travels the world in search of what he needs and returns home to find it" , George Moore
"Remember what Bilbo used to say; it's dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don't keep your feet, there's no knowing where you might be swept off to", JRR Tolkein
“Those who visit foreign nations,/but who associate only with their own countrymen,/change their climate, but not their customs;/ they see new meridians, but the same men;/and with heads as empty as their pockets,/ return home with traveled bodies, but untraveled minds.” -Colton
"Trust me, it's paradise. This is where the hungry come to feed. For mine is a generation that's circles the globe and searches something we haven't tried before. So never refuse an invitation, never resist the unfamiliar, never fail to be polite and never outstay the welcome. Just keep your mind open and suck in the experience. And if it hurts, you know what? It's probably worth it." - The Beach
"Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take but by the places and moments that take our breath away." - Unknown but I will give it to my friend Carly
Eat your bread, drink with your glass,I still have along way to go...
But my favourite is this one:
You choose the destinations,I show you the paths.
"The road less travelled is usually less travelled for a reason"
my friend Jason (at least I think he made it up)

I like this one:
"Thanks to the Interstate Highway System, it is now possible to travel across the country from coast to coast without seeing anything."
~Charles Kuralt, On the Road With Charles Kuralt
These arent quite as deep as the previous anecdotes, and to be honest I think they are probably more like my worst travel quotes...but dont you just hate it when people say, when you are going away, "Can I squeeze into your bag?!?!" you do the whole false smile thing, come on how many times do you hear that old favoutite?!?In fact Ive probably been one of the irritating ones and whipped out the comment myself!!!Another classic is the whole "Wish you were here!!!" thing, when the reality is, your having a fab time and 9 times out of ten you dont wish they were there!!!Ha Ha Ha!!!Oh my Gosh, how cynical do i sound?!?!I shall get back to you when I think of a personal favourite!!!
Oh Lord...If I could even begin on the cheesy lines that the passengers say on the cruise ships!! And yes, it's like they think they are the first ones to ever say it to me!! And of course, being a crew member I have to laugh and smile, when really on the inside I am screaming!!
haha reminds me of my cousin (6) one of my aunties freinds came out with the "can i squeeze in your bag and come aswell" only to be told rather abruptly NO YOUR TOO FAT AND WILL BRAKE IT couldnt helpbut laffin
Okay, these are not "philisophical" quotes...but they are TRUE questions that I have personally been asked or overheard while I am at work on the ships (I've included my thoughts in the brackets, which I could never voice outloud). Hope this gives some of you a good laugh....
"Does the ship generate it's own electricity?" (Nope, we are plugged into ~nearest port~)
"What deck is Nassau on?" (What!??! We just set sail from there!!!)
"Does this elevator go to the front of the ship"
"Does the crew sleep onboard" (nope, we don't......OF COURSE WE DO!!! Where else would we go!?!)
"Where do they get all the water for the pool from?" (some questions just receive blank stares)
"Is this watch waterproof?" (to which my colleague replied "yes sir, up to 50 feet") the response: "is that up and down or side to side?"
"how long will my half-hour massage take?"
"Where do I find deck 4" (ummm...between 3 and 5?)
"What will the weather be like tomorrow?" (I'm not sure, my nametag says Gift Shop Manager, not meteorologist)
"Does the Captain really drive the ship?" (nah, he's just here for fun)
"When will the ship stop rocking?" (uh, right.)
"Why is the ship rocking?" (this is one of my personal faves...so many answers....the #1 - You ARE on a cruise ship! But I really love it when they ask this and we are still tied up to the dock....)
"I asked for a port-side stateroom, but why when I look out the window do I only see water?" (hmmm....)
Truthfully, I could list so many more!! We did sell a t-shirt that had the "Top 10 Questions Asked by Cruise Ship passengers" and the day someone asked me for the "Answers" t-shirt, I just about died laughing....
"When will the ship stop rocking?" (uh, right.)
That was probably me!!!!
What Twinkle was saying reminded me of this old chestnut:
"I wish I'd done that when I had the chance..."
If I had a pound for everyone that had said this to me I'd be off again on the next flight.
