I have heard good things about the HI. Also recommended I have heard the Canadiana Backpackers on Widmer and the Global Village Backpackers on the corner of Spadina and King.

Check out this site for hostels in Toronto: Hostels in Toronto.

Enjoy TO (or the T-dot, as the hip kids call it).

I'm in TO right now visiting from Calgary...and I must say I love this city. The downtown area is super-easy to get around by subway and there's soo much to do here....something for everyone!

Its been pretty cold here the last couple weeks...the wind is FREEZING cold...so definitely bundle up and bring warm clothing.

Enjoy your trip!

Don't stay at Filmore's. It's a flop house above a strip club. Mostly I think visiting strippers and most likely short-term residences and their "dates."

Find another place to stay.

GregW, so you think that even if I would be with my husband, it's still not worth staying there?
I don't really want to share the room with 4-6 different people in the hostel...or maybe I have a wrong impression of hostels, please help

No, I wouldn't stay there. You should be able to find nicer and cleaner and safer places to stay.

What is your budget?

The last few times I stayed in TO, I booked into the Alexandra Hotel, which is a few blocks east of Queen and Spadina. Cheap and cheerful. Clean enough. In-suite kitchen. TV. Trams nearby. Chinatown around the corner. And they have more hotels in the neighbourhood if they're booked up. Check it out!
