Hello everyone. I was just letting everyone know that Peter and I are planning on getting together in early May when he comes to visit NYC.
I think the plan right now is to get together for dinner on May 4th if anyone is interested/going to be in the NYC area. If you have any ideas on resteraunts to check out please post them here. I of course have some favorite places to go, but I am always looking to try new places.
Also I think we are going to run around New York for a day or two or something around the 4th or 5th (not as firmed up as dinner on the 4th), if anyone has suggestions of things to go see or cares to run around with us.
So if you're gonna be in the area just let me know and I'll make sure there is enough room in the car(s) to accomadate everyone who wants to come.
Might have to make a guest appearance here.... it's a bit of a flight from Norway but I just noticed some specials going on that might make it doable
I'll keep you informed!
Sounds great SAM, could turn into a really good time... even though I am sure it will be already. Let me know too if you guys need airport pickups... and Peter I am still looking at Hotels, I went and actually looked at a couple and now I am afraid to reccomend one cause they looked sort of gross... but I'll come up with something here soon I am sure.
This could be quite neat. If it wasn't for my 'darned' wedding this year, I would have a bit more cash!
On the subject of hotels. Last time I was there we stayed in a decent place in the upper west side. Hotel Boulevard or something like that. You might want to look into it Pete as it was reasonably priced and a good location.
Anyway guys, what do you think about the following deal I found? I can either pay 350 EUR which is just the flight (probably 400 incl. tax) or 500 incl 2 nights in hotel Thirty Thirty, a 3 star on 30 East 30th Street. Prices are probably based on two people, so my fiancee would join me on the trip (also doubles as a birthday present for her ).....
Can you guys tempt me a little more that I can convince myself it's a good call???
It would be either/or for me, I can't fit a trip to London in in June I don't think....
Those prices sound pretty decent to me. You wouldn't want to stay longer than 2 days though? You want to come to some agreement to put it on the TP tab? I figure it's a business expense
You should come. I have several free days on the 3, 4, and 5th and can get some other days off if needed. I am planning on carting you guys around wherever you want to go. Sadly my girlfriend is wierd about having strangers stay over, otherwise I'd invite you guys to stay too.
Let me know when you guys are getting in too. I'll come to the airport and pick you up... It should really be a grand time. Plus if your soon to be wife hasn't been to NYC, how could it get any better than doing it on a "business trip?".
The 30 30 I am not familiar with, but I know the area. It should be a decent area to stay in. 30th street is pretty close to the action, being not too far away from Time Square.. About 13 blocks or so.
Also, if anyone else from the site is going to be in the area in the beggining of May, let me know, I can help you out with transport, and you are surely invited to join us when we run around NY.
Hi . . I would love to join you all, but I don't get to NYC until late June . . .let us know though what you get up to, and where you eat . . be really good to have some recommendations which are based on really recent experiences . . . have a fab time Becky
When you have dates that you are coming to NYC post them. If I am in town then too, I would be happy to do the same for you that I am with Peter and Sam. It's always a good time having people come to visit, and I know the city pretty well for someone who recently moved out here.
Ok, mind is made up... I am coming (noting the business nature of this trip!). Actually might have some other business which I can attend to there too coming to think of it.
Will have a look into tickets tomorrow and have to sneakily find out if my fiancee doesn't have anything happening around then that can't be moved.
I guess we'll make it a Friday 30-04 to Thursday 06-05 kind of thing... depending on the tickets of course. 2 days is definitely not enough
Ian, are there any basketball games in the Garden still going on then or is that depending on whether the Knicks make it to the playoffs? I do still have some free passes to get a tour of the Garden from my trip in Jan and they are still valid (if you're interested).
I'll inform what exactly the name was of the last hotel we stayed as well....
This should be fun!
Ian, my fiancee is the same way with strangers (I once suggested opening our apartment here in Oslo for anyone interested ) - that's absolutely no problem at all!
