Aussie Working Holiday Visa Proof of Funds?

Hi there,

I leave for a 4-month trip to Sydney next month. I have saved £1800 for my trip so far. Apparently the Australian government require proof of funds for at least $5000AUD which is about £2100 I think. My Aunt has promised me some money but I don't know if I'll have £2100 unless I borrow some money.

I just have a few questions:

1) If I don't have at least £2100/$5000AUD will this cause me a problem?

2) Who will ask for my visa and proof of funds? (presumably immigration officials at the airport)

3) How strict are Australian immigration about having enough money?

Cheers,
RUGBYJOCK

You could call the Oz embassy and get more info on financial requirements?
Why not have family and friends drop dosh into your bank account for financial equity on entry to God's Own,, then transfer the dosh back to them when you get here, you dirty cheating Welsh git?

Not that I ever did that of course!!!!

For a four-month trip? Yeah, unless you have some other source of income, or plan to live really really cheaply all the time and not to do any activities, you'll probably be living on dry bread for the last month of that.

No one. Hundreds of people have asked here on the forum, and hundreds have answered, and no one ever had it checked that they really had all funds available. You could always be the exception to prove the rule, meeting an immigration official who's having a bad day or something, but basically I wouldn't worry about that side of it.
