I dunno, I was really surprised at how much Agnez P. trusted a bunch of strangers that she had met on the internet. She did say something that the reason she agreed to put us up is that while she was travelling in Chile, she could not believe how open people were and that the level of hospitality was incrediable and that she wanted to bring that same spirit back to europe. I suppose that when people have alot of stuff they are more concerned to loose it then people in poorer countries.

That's a really heartwarming story, Daniel (can I call you Daniel? ). It's things like that that make travelling worthwhile and memorable!

Man, I wish I was there for the Olympics. Oh, the snow...

character that is almost over righteous. An incrediable need to help and share advice combined with a overwhelming level of trust,

what a load of crap! that girl u met in Budapest that hooked u up with a her friend....the same one u cheated on with ur Swiss girlfriend! hahah that was so funny that day on the street when she caught us.

SPEACHLESS in Budapest, the lesser known follow up to Sleepless in Seattle

.....this is nothing but malicious slander, overblown American propoganda.

Moderator comment: This thread is NOT about what is "a load of crap" and what isn't - it IS about nice, personal stories that have happened because of Travellerspoint. It also is NOT about nationalities. If you have nothing positive to say here, please consider not posting. The rest of us would like to hear what others have experienced. Thank you.

There are good people everywhere, Daniel. Sometimes they are just harder to find than the not-so-nice. I'm glad you had a great experience and met someone of Angez's calibre.

We had never met Pardus nor CupCake, except through TP, when we invited them to our home. Pardus was here for 9 days (from Ireland) and CupCake visited for 3 (from Arizona), while Pardus was here. We had a wonderful time and they were great fun! I wouldn't have missed that time together for anything!!! I also would not hesitate to have either of them visit me again! Now, we just have to work on getting Hien, Q_Zhang, Brendan, IronChef and FionaNZ here. They have all asked to visit at some point. (Q_Zhang and Brendan want cooking lessons - maybe we should get IronChef here at the same time to help out with that..) ;)

Friends are friends, and strangers are friends you just haven't met.

Well, actually, some strangers are people who will rip you off, steal your wallet/passport/cherished rolls of film, or generally do other nasty things.

But the great thing about many travellers is that they have met all of these misfortunes, and are still willing to be trusting and helpful and hospitable. Because its true, there are great people everywhere, and you soon realise they far outweigh the b@#*!@ds...
