I'm going to be in Kentucky working at a summer camp from may-August and then want to travel around for a bit after, but I'll only have about 2 weeks because I have to be back in the uk for something at the very end of August and also my flight home is from New York.
Does anyone have any suggestion of where I could go, how long should spend there and how best to travel ie train/bus? I want to make the absolute most of it. I was thinking maybe nashville, washington dc and of course New York(cos never been and have to fly from there) to visit. Maybe going to Florida but i've been before and that might take up too mcuh travel time?? Any other suggestions?
It's ages away and I'll probably do soemthing completely different with people I meet at camp but it's worth knowing what would be available to do in those two weeks!
What part of Kentucky are you going to be in? I'd definitely recommend going to New York in the summer over going to Florida. You can go to beaches anywhere, but there's only one New York city. St. Louis is only about a 4-5 hour drive away from Louisville, if you're going to be anywhere near that, as is Chicago. You may consider going to the Northeast and just going to the big cities up there such as New York, Boston, Philly, etc.
Memphis and Nashville are not far from you there and are worth seeing. Also, if you can get there, the Smokey Mountains are excellent too.
Hi thanks for the suggestions.
I am going to be near Louisville in Kentucky. I can't drive so if I don't end up meeting with anyone who's driving will it be easy for me to travel to all these places by bus?
Also in travelling time how far away is NYC from Louisville? I have no idea!
Thanks very much
I actually live in Louisville, Ky so if you're here for a while with nothing better to do, maybe we could meet up and grab a bite to eat. When I drove to NYC, it took 12 hours there and 14 or so coming back, so it all just depends on how much you stop and everything. I'm almost positive you could catch a bus to Chicago and New York city and then go from there. I've never traveled by bus, maybe some of the others on the board can help with that...I know that it just depends on where you go, but generally the bus is relatively expensive.
