There's the new Ox Experience and the old Oz Experience; very different. The company was bought out last year. They sacked all the old staff, got rid of the big busses and use only small comfy ones now, and brought in new well trained guides. And they changed some of the routes. The feedback is good. Greyhound is a point a to point b service. No frills, well priced, and they go everywhere.

Got greyhound buses - were good, went where they said they would, were comfy enough - but they are just buses and not a tour - if you want a tour/meeting people/getting drunk oz experience might be the thing.

Oz Experience include a lot of things and also drop you off the hostel gate. An East Coast pass is about $700 and a Greyhound is about $300. There's a discount on that if you have a Nomads backpackers card as well. As far as getting drunk goes I think that's up to you, although the old Oz Ex had a reputation for encouraging this.

One thing to note about OzExperience... if you're on a tight schedule like me then be careful about planning around their timetable. Since i started planning my trip a few months back, they've changed their timetable numerous times (both the days and times that their buses leave places).

I'm two days away from leaving for my Oz trip and have just noticed they've done it once again and now i have to re-giggle my schedule for the umteenth time!

you could also just buy a plane ticket and save the hassle of the long trip.

usually the carriers have good easter sales or other sales.

My b/f worked for Oz Ex. and yes the takeover is for the worse, went to the sydney's oz ex. staff do the other day and they're all moaning about it.

My b/f now says dont go with them,(maybe he's a mlil bitter about it huh!) but i think i will for part of my trip, i went with them last year and they were good.
