Looks like Singapore Airlines (SIA) is getting pretty good vibes. I haven't flown SIA in a while, because it's pretty expensive for me. I flew ANA once, and the service was pretty good.

not easy jet cheap but i'm 5 ft and there no room god help 6 footers!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My cousin flew with Cathay Pacific to Vietnam and loved them - l think they are very similar service to SIA.

I hate easy jet but lm booking flights with them today for Edinburgh - no choice no one else flies from Belfast to Edinburgh

Anyone flown Lufthansa (Cruisegirl?) what they like - looks like going to Beijing with them! To they charge for booze? A lot of the US carriers are charging now $6 a pop when we flew United at Christmas! Not even a glass of vino with food (now do l sound like a total alcho!)

SIA is good but I think Emirates has better service, food and entertainment. Thai Airways and Malaysian airlines are good too :)

ive only flown on a few, but so far THAI AIR is by far my favorite!

i love flying us airways for domestic flights though. they may have horrible service and never get me home on time but i like that their fares are usually cheap and that i can use my miles on other airlines!

Cathay Pacific are great, so is Malaysian airlines.
I like the smaller ones also cos you get a more personel service

What does everybody think of British Airways? Im flying with them internationally from hong kong to london for the first time and have no idea what they are like to fly with...:(

BA are fine, not the best but definately not the worst.
Leg room/facilities are good, so you should have a good flight.

Talking about good airlines, have you tried SAS? flew into Oslo from london, paid a fortune for the ticket and they still don't give you anything. There is business class (hot food), economy flex (cold food), then a big notice on the row that divides the flex from standard economy. A big anouncement is made that those in economy (cattle class scum like me)can pay for cold sndwiches or a cup of tea, which will set you back 5 to 6 quid.
I thought that was bad, but then i got on the internal flight to Stavanger. Talk about cattle class, the plane was about a third smaller that the one to Oslo, but I'd say there were just as many seats. Just as well i was in the isle seat, i managed to sort of streatch out with a twist. The funny bit was when they were pointing out where the emergence exits were I made the comment that it would be a waste of time telling us as we couldn't get out of out seats to the bloody things in the first place !!!!

I don't care as long I'm sitting upstairs in a seat next to a window and my legs can't touch the seat in front of me.

Warning about Varig Brasilian Airlines ( I am also Star Alliance).
Is hard to believe that an Airline that was one of the best in the world, has become over the years as “one of the worst”…
It was my favorite to South America!, food, cabin, service, immaculate planes..
Now it is all the opposite: No food, a completely worn out seats and dirty cabin, no service, smelling toilettes…and on and on.

When we arrived to check in for the flight nobody invite us to use the lounge. We found it by ourselves. Also the check in agent didn’t advise us that the flight was delayed for 5 hours! (It probably to prevent from us to flight on TAM that was leaving soon and in time! later we found that Tam is the best South American airline, almost comparable with Singapore Airlines service.
We found the first class lounge, if it can be call “first class”(I was wondering how business class is across the aisle), the receptionist was a Japanese girl, very indifferent and rude, avoiding to look to my eyes. When asking about the delay,her answer was “because bad weather in Rio”..(I checked “” and it was fine). When asking for a second time, finally she told me that it was delayed for 5 hours, and asked me to sit and do not ask again, that she didn’t have more answers! (It was the Aeroflot of the 70’s or what?)…
After three hours in the lounge, we were starving, and there was nothing to eat, just some cookies and little, greasy dumplings (beverages were plentiful). We could go to buy something, but the lounge was far from everywhere and because the unpredictability of Varig, we decided not take the chance to miss the flight and to hold up our hungry and wait for the flight refreshments.

Finally it was almost midnight when we boarded the plane. (It was supposed to leave at 7 pm). They do not care if you are flying first, business or coach; they just treat you like cattle. I observed a refined American gentleman loosing his temper at the boarding desk, screaming that he was since early that morning and nobody listened to him…
The first class cabin of this very old M11 had only one row of four destroyed and filthy leather seats, one at each window and one two-seats center (ours). Nobody else used this section. At this point, we were very hungry and thirsty, but nothing to drink was offered to us…we noticed that two trays were hand-delivered to the front kitchen; we assumed they were our refreshments, and we are still sure that they were ours, but the flight attendants shared them as soon as the plane was up and nothing was served to us!

Before going up I noticed that two over bin head compartments were left open and seeing that nobody cared, I closed them myself. Then, I noticed that a closet door next to the toilette room was hold closed with a piece of tape, because the tape was not sticky anymore (I am sure that tape was there from many other flights), as soon as somebody pressed the tape to close the door, the door kept opening. When the plane was taking off that door was banging and banging. I got really concerned thinking on how the others important doors were holding closed? I also noticed wires exposed at the edges!! (Suddenly came to my mind the crash of Swissair on New York because the fire started with the plane wires, and it was also an M11 plane!).

A lady used the toilette while taking off, nobody call her attention, and they let her do it? They flight attendants were very busy chatting between them, ignoring the passengers during the entire flight.

Frustrated waiting for an invitation to a drink that never came, we asked to one of them for guarana (a typical Brazilian drink). It was brought to us natural in a plastic cup, because we wanted it cool, she returned with another cup with ice and “help your self” was the attitude. I made her a comment about “what is going on with Varig? You think Varig will survive? Her response was “I don’t think so, it is very sad” (While she was eating a banana and talking at the same time). We were also sure that the banana was part of our refreshments service never served, and convinced that the crew is really willing to Varig go out of business (at least they are strongly helping to this happen).

As soon as the plane was in the air a flight attendant guy came to the cabin, he just took the magazines from the first class rack holder and seated at my left, he was very busy reading the magazines and making comments to his fellows about the editorials, (also, he never stopped of dig his nose: disgusting). During the rest of the flight, the first class section was the meeting point of the entire crew, chatting loud and completely ignoring us. I really consider it was something made in purpose.

We could not wait to get out of that plane, not even a courtesy “good bye” or a smile.
Walking the aisle, we noticed that in the next gate, personnel of Tam Airlines were greeting their passengers while leaving the plane and showing them their wishes to see them back soon. Their passengers were leaving the plane with a smile in their face, while ours were leaving with a relief face.

We often travel to South America, and we like to spend time at Leblon Beach in Rio, but we will never use Varig again, even if I have to go all the way around!
We cannot understand either, how Varig can be part of the Star alliance, when most of their airlines have a reputation of high quality service. Obviously, these alliances are made by convenience for some reason and they do not represent the union of quality service or safety.
