i love singapore airlines. they are the best. oooo, except the fact that u cant book online with a debit card, not even am HSBC card, the biggest global bank in the world. or when u ring them up and they dont answer, and the website gives you ten 15digit numbers none of which work. and the fact that the airline office of an international airline is only open monday to friday 9-5. and thai air; you need to look through the smallprint in the ticket contract to find out your baggage allowance. and discount airline ticket websites, who give a price from london to DPS of 495£ with KLM air and then u ring em up to book and they go "oh actually that was an estimate, it will probably be more likely that its 523£. oh and surfboards are and extra 80E." yeh, cheers mate. ad wank travel insurance, it costs you minimum 50£, and then the excess is 100£, so uve spend 150£ before you even make a claim. fair enough if you get your face kicked in and need reconstructive surgery, but im more likely to get my bag and all my money pinched. and so its just not worth claiming.
FELLOW PEOPLE OF THE INDEPENDANT AUTONOMOUS COLLECTIVE OF INTERNATIONAL TRAVELLERS: heed this!!! we are being raped by big corporate institutions on a daily basis. they make rules by which we must follow, and have NO alternative!!!
I PROPOSE A RIOT, we should RISE UP against these evil OPPRESSORS, there is no greater weapon than COURAGE. take whatever you can, pitchforks, tin hats and cricket bats, we will TAKE THE POWER BACK, and when the dust has settled, we shall enforce our own VISA-FREE WORLD with compulsory LOW INTERNATIONAL AIRFIRE PRICES>>> BY LLLAAAWWW
in the words of rage against the machine, I HAVE A FIST IN THE AIR IN A LAND OF HYPOCRASY!
whos with me?

North American debit cards can't be used for booking or reserving. You can only use them at an ATM or a store with a debit machine; you yourself must validate the purchase and enter your PIN number. Only credit card numbers can be given out over the phone or on-line. Perhaps it's the same with Singapore Airlines...?

nah u can use hsbc for everything, esp online stuff cos switch/maestro are pretty much the ultimate usniversal debit card. singapore air ONLY take credit cards from visa and diners cards, and so i tried to get my parents to pay with their credit card and they said they dont do third party bookings unless the cardholder GOES TO HEATHROW AIRPORT (this is 4 wks prior to travel!!) to get it all legitamised. yeha sure i bet thats well easy if your in hong kong or sumthing. they said unless you have a visa credit card, you have to go to a travel agent to book a ticket... A TRAVEL AGENT!! THE SCORN OF THE TRAVELLERS INDEPENDANT SOCIETY-SOCIETY> what cheek!
im sorry but for an international airline, no matter how good their inflight is, not accepting debit cards, and then refusing bookings by proxy and suggesting that the only way i can pay for a flight is by going to a travel agent or going to heathrow airport is Pathetic.
The Riot has begun, Meet at my house ten o clock tomorow morning, tea and cakes, and then we march on the capital!!!

That's the way it works here, so I don't really know any other way. Either have a credit card or pay in person. This whole debit-card-as-a-way-to-reserve is a very foreign concept in these here parts!

P.S. I'm too busy to revolt today. Can we reschedule the riot for, say, Sunday afternoon?

Sunday afternoon? Can't we revolt in work time at least?

Sorry, other pre-planned engagements and activities prevent us from joining the revolution before Monday. But, have found the pitchforks and awaiting to hear if they will be needed or not. Please advise...
