First check the websites for Korean Air and Asiana Airlines to see what they have for prices. Sometimes they run specials to Korea, besides you have to establish some sort of base price to compare the discounters against.

You can try these places:

www.fareline.com
www.asia.com
Orbitz
Priceline
Kayak.

Don't forget that these airlines also fly to Korea:

Northwest
United
Delta
American Airlines.

I would go with the two Korean airlines first. I live on the east coast, sometimes I use my frequent flyer miles to fly to California for free and pay for my flight to Asia from LAX or SFO on an Asian carrier. In case you don't know, Friday and weekend departures are usually more expensive than the rest of the week. Also avoid leaving on holidays.

Don't be fixed on a particular date to leave, be flexible and check a couple days before and after your preferred departure day and see if the prices drop a little. Sign up for the frequent flyer program that the airline offers and around 2 or 3 flights later you may be able to fly the next time for free!

I forgot to include this little hint that sometimes works for me. When I call the airlines to check on any specials that have come up - I have my best luck when I call around midnight to 1 A.M. Wednesdays at this time are supposed to be even better, that's when the airlines release some more "cheap" seats for sale by their airlines and the discounters.

Ok yeah, late at night the agents on the other end of the telephone seem more helpful than the day staff. Guess they are not so busy as the day crew and can take more time to check things.

Good luck.

Thanks for all the suggestions!:)

My brother (who I'm going to visit in Korea) just gave me some additional websites to check out:

www.skyauction.com
www.bt-store.com

So far the above websites are the cheapest.

Thanks again for your help!
