Hi,

I'm planning to go to Japan in August, Does anyone know whether August is
the begining of Summer or Mid or end of summer?

If summer in the South Japan, will North Japan(Hokkaido) crowded in Aug??

Thanks,
Queenie

August is rather in the midsummer in Japan. Hokkaido is famous for its winter, but because the whole Japan is not extremely hot in the summer, Hokkaido is not really a summer town.

In the summer people in Japan crowd to the beaches, or take trips to Hawaii (which is one of Japanese favorite vacation spots - close and cheap, and world famous). One good thing about being in Japan during August is you can climb Mt. Fuji, which opens only about 3 months out of the year for climbers. Funny you ask, I might stop by Tokyo on my way to Viet Nam in a couple of weeks.
