Croatia holds a special place in my heart... i spent x 5 weeks there in 2004 island hopping from Spilt to Dubrovnik; it was the most stunning place i have ever been - do not book accom, just stay with families - it is what we did and there is no better way to really understand and appreciate the culture. (or take a tent which is also what we did)

Imagine mountains dropping into the sea which is so so clear and sparkling you just wouldnt believe, amazing bulidings and ruins and freindly people......

Dubrovnik is a jewel no words can do it justice...just go.........

If you have time head up to Sarajevo in Bosnia - 6hrs from Dubrovnik - an amazing heart rendering place; stay in the hostel by the fountain in the centre and make sure you take part in the war tour.
We then headed up to Belgrade - Fantastic city really pumping and then down to Sofia (wasnt so keen on this city - too smoggy) but stay in Hostel Sofia and and go up the nearest mountain..fantastic

I will consider visiting Ogulin. How about nearby Karlovac? Is that a nice town or is it just known for the beer brewery? I met a Croat from Pag or Rag (I cannot remember which one), who told me these islands are a bit dull, while other people do not agree. What do you think, Nina?

Hy Ninika,

I went to Croatia 2 years ago, and i must say that it's a beautifull country with friendly people.
There are many interesting historical places as Dubrownik, Ston, Rab etc..

water is the clearest of the Mediterranean if you like swimming with fish it's perfect !

And finaly, everything is really cheap.

Have a look at my pic gallery from Croatia

Pag is almost allways unger strong blowes of bora (a cold northen wind), so the people and vegetation go together with the climate. But still, it is famous for lamm meet, which is great and you can have a great time in the bay Zrce, there are 3 night bars which are opened 24 hours a day. it is crazy over there. I dont know much about Rab. karlovac is the greenest city in Croatia. there are beautifull vilages around it, but it is verry pecafull atmosphere in all of them.
