That sounds like a good deal. The cheapest we've found for mid-May is $889 Canadian direct between Montreal and Rome. (My friend is insisting we reserve our seats [she's terrified of flying] so add on another $30.) If anyone finds a cheaper way, let us know!

Well prices are going up quickly. 650 was a few days ago, now it's 670. Not surprising. However, I have to add in an additional 100+ or so for taxes bringing it up to 770 or so. Still cheaper than what you have found.

If you're quoting in US dollars, the price probably comes out to about the same. I checked Zoom Airlines to London, but all the outbound flights are sold out (and they were $199!! Dammit!), and the flights to Paris ended up about $50 cheaper, so we've opted to splurge to skip having to connect. Still haven't found anything cheaper that the $889 with Air Transat, though...

Quick question.. Are you sure you have only the 16th through the 29th off, because the 16th is a sunday and the 29th is a saturday, I would think you'd have the whole weekend off, but maybe not. Anyways, I still think you should consider non-direct flights. You can leave at 8:55p on April 15th from EWR to London for $559 after taxes. Then get a short flight to Italy. You also don't have to get the connecting flight to Rome. It's usually cheaper to fly into a different city then take a bus or train into town. That's what I'm doing when I fly into Pisa I'm going to take a train to Bologna because it's more cost effective that way. Also, when searching for flights leaving on the 16th they usually don't arrive to Europe until the 17th, so you effectively lose a day and don't get it back until you leave. I'd also keep Dublin in mind, maybe don't use RyanAir, but I've found tickets out of EWR in the 400's. Check out Orbitz, Expedia, and Travelocity. Also, check out bookingbuddy.com. I bought my tickets through Orbitz, I think they have the best prices, but you definitely need to compare all these search engines. Orbitz has a flight from EWR,PHL,and JFK to Rome for $741 after taxes. Anyways, I hope this is more help.

Good points you made there. My wife actually found 770 per person after taxes from EWR to Milan to Rome. Taking Continental and then Alitalia.

We couldn't find flights good enough to get there earlier. So it was worth it for us to spend a little bit more money.

In addition, we did take additional days and changed our itinerary a bit. Played with the dates and came up with...15th to the 30th. I guess that will suffice. I think.

Any further thoughts on this?

When and where are you flying out of again?

Are you visiting friends/family or first time travel there?

If visiting friends or family, I may want to pick your brain more.

Are you rental a car?

I'm flying out of LAX on April 20th and arrive in Dublin on the 21st. It'll be my first time going to Ireland, but I've been to Europe twice before. I'm going on a big trip for about two and a half months. I'm going to be traveling solo for awhile and then I meet up with friends. That's why I'm flying out of Dublin for Pisa/Florence, I'm gonna meet a buddy in Bologna and then we're going to Rome, Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia, etc. My buddy has a friend in Serbia that we might stay with and later in the trip I might stay with a friend of mine in Hamburg. As for renting a car, we might rent one in Croatia, but we're not sure yet. It might not be cost effective. If you're gonna be in Rome most of the time I doubt you'll want to rent a car. Anyways, if you have anymore questions just ask.
