Tomasi has indicated that this thread is about Mexico

I'm in Mexico City for a week from 27th March before i head down through southern Mexico, Belize and Guatemala for 3 months.

What shouldn't i miss in Mexico City?

Any recommended hostels/hotels/museums/galleries/bars/sights?

The pyramids in Teotihuacan are a MUST see.

I completely agree Teotihuacan was amazing.
I also really liked xochimilco, it's a floating market, i thought it was really cool
there's also a museum of mexico (I'm not sure what the full name of the museum is) but it has some interesting stuff in it

well a week in Meico City... what do you want to do or what are your interests?

because there is plenty to do or see...

historical try the Museo Nacional de Antropologia, the Frida Khalo Museum, the Munal (Museo Nacional de Arte), the historical places, the pyramids, shopping, restaurants, great walks, tianguis, wow, endless list. If you are a bit more specific I can help you better. thats my hometown.

mexico city can be kinda sketchy, so be safe and smart~don't be out and about getting lost in the middle of the night walking abouts'. san angel is a short trip on the outskirts of mexico city...frida kahlo. worth a trip, teotihuacan is alright, still a site to see...pyramid of the moon and of the sun~touristy. the polanco district is safer than the rest of the city.

Most of the interesting or cool things are between Chapultepec and the Center (Zocalo)

so if you stick to those places, you wont have a problem, last year I spent only 4 days there, there was so much to see I actually did not make to any other area but these I am telling you, and my day started right at 7 am, out in the streets to 3 to 4 am non-stop. So you better plan on what to do.

As for activities, check

this is a magazine on cultural activities, and good stuff to see
exhibitions, fairs, expos, local and nearby tours, etc., many of these are free, they also give you the comments on each of these and if they are pricy or not, as well as schedules.

Good luck

Take the bus trip around the city. You should take it in El Zocalo. There is the best way to know about that wonderful city.
Also, I recommend to have dinner in the hotel which is front of El Zocalo.
DonĀ“t miss Taxco.

You can take the bus on and off any corner right from Zocalo up to the National Auditorium, it is about 12 dollars, and it lasts one full day, so I recommend you this for it goes along the most touristic places, and you can be on and off all day long, your ticket is a one day pass, from early morning to late at night, yes, Taxco is superb!! be prepared for lovely incredible silver! and gold too, but mostly silver in Taxco, at incredible prices! Be prepared for tons of lovely delicious food there too.

You can also try Tepozotlan, haciendas, convents, etc,

Or maybe Xochimilco, (channels of flower plantations) nice envirnoment, and lots of mariachi music, they prepare your food right at your chalupa, good nice food and a typical Mexican market, open and indoor...

or maybe Chinconcuac, lots of good nice sweaters, those typical ones, (Starsky and Hutch) used to wear (white with a black stripe) now back.

or maybe Pachuca, delicious Barbacoa, (lamb meat cooked in soil oven and wrapped in banana leafs)... really delicious.

well if you are more specific, I can give you more details. But restaurants you cant miss while in Mexico City is Fonda del Recuerdo, Los Almendros, El Charco de las Ranas.
Good luck.
