At the moment im in OZ and i think i'm going to have to send some things back home as i'm sure i'll be way over the 20kg allowance.
Was wandering if anyone knows cheap/reliable companies that i could use & How long does does it normally take to ship stuff back?
Oh my!!! It happenned to me long time ago. But what you can do:
1. Try to contact the airlines and ask an excuse to carry more than 20kg, usually they will give you up to 30 kg
2. I believe there are so many shipping company around. Then try to check the price. It must be lot cheaper but don't ask me when it comes to destination.
try the courier companies, they have a pallet rate if it is not urgent to arrive next day. I did that from Brussels to Glasgow when I moved as I did not have enough stuff for a removal van but was way over the 20kg limit. Airlines also have a cargo rate.
Try contacting the airline. I work for the cruiselines, and usually with a little smile and an explanation that I have been away for 6 months, they let me get away with it.
Otherwise, I've just used the post office. The Correius (spelled wrong!) in Spain shipped a 20kg box for me back to Canada for only 75 Euro. By boat, not by plane, and make sure you specify that at the post office/shipping company, because it's usually more costly if sending by air.
I'm also in Oz and was thinking the same, i just over packed on the clothes, i was going to send stuff home, if you're not fussed about the time it takes to get there then maybe try the post office, may take up to 6 weeks. I'm actually going to leave my stuff with someone who i'm living with at the mo-is this not an option for you perhaps!?
Go into backpackers or somewhere and pick up tnt maga as they will adverise all of these companies.
