Just thought it would be good if there was some experiences of the best and worst airports people have been to. Not sure if this has already been done, but it dosen't hurt.
I'll start with one most have been to:
Heathrow: Big PIA (pain in ass), just too much on at the same time, delays, miles to walk and lines that go on forever. You can go just about anywhere in the world from here, but thats also it's drawback in being sooo busy.
Changi (Singapore) is my favourite. Gotta love an airport that has a swimming pool, free internet, showers, bedrooms, etc. available and will even take you on a free tour of the city while you're in transit
Heathrow is pretty bad, I was majorly surprised to see that Ireland was in the 'Domestic' terminal - last thing I knew it was an independent country
My vote for worst though is LA - I can't stand the queues there for ridiculous face-saving security procedures. Be warned, an hour and a half to change flights in LAX is a majorly tight connection. And American airports seem to have the world's crappiest procedures for international transfers. Melbourne-LA-Canada requires you to actually go through US immigration. Why?? The form to fill out has a field: "Address in the US". I didn't fill it in, considering I wasn't going to be in the US for more than 30 minutes and was sternly told to fill in 'Canada' as the answer.. haha . Some wishful thinking there.
You surelly know this funny site: http://www.sleepinginairports.net/
Sleeping in airports is one of my favourite sites, Ive left a few posts on there of my adventures of sleeping in several of them! Its hilarious...I especially like the bit about people sleeping in toilets!!!!Always check it out before I head to a new airport for the night!!!
I actually really like Heathrow Airport...think its one of my favourites!!!Theres loads of thing to do there!!!
Paris Charles De Gaulle is on of my worst, as is Stanstead...theyre both cold and boring!!!!
I love Schipol Amsterdam...you can even egt a quick massage!!!
I like Schipol too, but I think my favourite is Dubai. It just looks incredible! There's loads to see, and comfy chairs you can kinda lie on, and some great window shopping with the masses of diamonds and ferarris and stuff. My only complaint was with the duty-free face-creams, I always like to blag some free samples but little did I know they all contained skin-whitening stuff! Argh! On my way back from Thailand with a brilliant tan too!!!
My least favourite is Prestwick airport near Glasgow. It's the most depressing place in the world. Inverness airport ain't much fun either!
Changi sounds amazing!
