I need advice. I'm going to be travelling round the world leaving end of this year. Dilemma is I will be wanting to spending longer than a year doing this. Idea is to buy my RTW ticket (valid for a year) and forfeit my home leg of the journey Bangkok/London. Itinerary in basic form is
LON - NY // LA - Fiji - christchurch//Auckland - Sydney//Darwin -Singapore//Bangkok-LON
Then what i plan to do is buy another ticket whilst in Singapore or Bangkok (one way/return/RTW depending on which is the cheapest option) to do the following:
Bangkok - India(not sure of route in India yet, maybe include some internal flights) and then fly back to London.
Does anyone know of a reliable and good travel agency I can use in Singapore or Bangkok? Or good websites to use? Or even better does anyone know of any travel agencies that do round the world tickets valid for longer than a year?
Hello!!!There is actually a STA Travel in both Bangkok and Singapore and Ive always found that company great, Ive always found the best prices for flights through them! They also do online bookings and its nice to know they actually have travel centres over there if you had any problems!
Thanks, yeah - I had thought of STA however might seem a stupid thought but I was under the impression you needed to be a student or under certain age to use STA travel.........maybe I am wrong? I'm 31 and have no student ID or anything. I could try wearing a school uniform..... could get around it that way!
No, you can use them! They do have special deals for students and people under 26 but they are open for all!
try airfares.com.sg for airtickets out of singapore.
I don't think much of STA in Singapore. They're good at handling tickets for students going overseas for studies but not much else. Plus service is not that great.
When you're here you may like to browse through the papers to see check out airfares. Don't just check the classifieds as the major airlines have promotions quite often but their ads would be somewhere interspersed in the main news sections. Can't help with travel agencies as I don't usually book tours.
For Thailand you can try www.olavi.com. Read in the papers before that flights may be cheaper if you fly out from Bangkok and this was the agency recommended. If that's true then maybe you can fly to Singapore from Australia, then take a budget airline to Bangkok (but gotta check, sometimes it's more worth it to fly non-budget), or go Singapore-Malaysia-Thailand via coach/train before flying to London.
Hope this helps! If you have questions regarding Singapore feel free to ask too!
