Im off to Oz in a couple of months for a year and was thinking about doing some volunteer work while im out there.
Ive just been looking at the study work and travel website and they have a couple of programmes on there where you do volunteer work for a couple of weeks and it appears that they provide you with free accomodation and food while you work. After the 2 weeks work is over, they then provide you with 2 weeks of travel.
Seems too good to be true? Has any one done this?
Glad I read your post. That's my website and it appears that the information is misleading. I'll have to fix that.
The program costs money: its around $3,500. This includes 2-weeks on a volunteer program and two weeks touring with Adventure tours Australia or Oz Experience. The Volunteer program is run by International Student Volunteers, a respected company, but do of course charge for the volunteer programs. You can read more at www.isvonline.com. They represent many different volunteer organisations in Australia. Another one to check out is Conservation Volunteers Australia at www.cva.org.au. These guys do charge fees.
If you want to get in touch with organisations directly try these websites. WWF is especially good because they go to great coastal locations and do things like turtle monitoring
I hope this helps. I'd better go and look at my content
Thanks for all the info Majito.
The program and website looks good.
