Sleeping bag or liner?

Travel Forums Asia Sleeping bag or liner?

Hi am leaving in October to travel for a year around India, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam.
Will it be best to take a sleeping bag, silk liner or cotton liner?

Would love any advice,
Thanks!

Dont take a sleeping bag, its just another thing to carry around and if you stay somewhere with bed bugs they will infest your sleeping bag and you will be hauling a gaggle of nasty criters around the world with you!!!
I took a liner with me to south east asia and i plan to do the same when I also go to india this summer!
I only used the liner once when in SEA and that was only because the bedding had suspicious stains on and i didnt fancy lying on them! You should find most places provide clean and adequate bedding, but take just a thin silk liner with you just in case!

If you can get a silk liner, they are light and small, and i've heard that bedbugs don't bite through them, although I don't know if its true.

They are obviously a bit more expensive than cotton, but you can buy them really cheap in places like vietnam.

I took a sheet sewn halfway up one side to make like a sleepingbag. Used it everywhere.

Just take a liner. If you don't have a silk one, wait until you get to Asia to buy one (cheaper). Cotton ones are not only hotter, but take up double the space and are a chunk heavier.
