Where is Sydney's prime residential area? Like, which parts of Sydney are the luxury houses and apartments located?

This kind of depends really... but generally I'd say anywhere close to a beach will command a hefty premium (Bondi/Coogee can be very expensive). The area on the actual Sydney Harbour when sailing out to sea is probably closest to what you mean. If I am not mistaken, that's where Nicole Kidman has a place...

On the harbour: Darling Point, Point Piper, and Vaucluse. All Eastern Suburbs. The biggest houses you'll find in Bellevue Hill and Dover Heights. On the Ocean: Bronte, Tamarama, parts of Bondi. South Coogee. Inner Harbour: Greenwich, Hunters Hill. Middle Harbour: Mosman, Seaforth, Clontarf. Nothing much under a million dollars.
