In Bangkok visit Patpong Market in Sumkivit!!So much cheap stuff and they have some really gorgeous boutique style stores with really pretty jewellery, accessories and clothes!

If you are in Bangkok on a Saturday or Sunday the Chatuchak Weekend market is a great place to go. It is absolutly HUGE- and sells everything you could think of!

Hi Brian,

Are there any particular things that you're eyeing, i.e. clothes, IT gadgets, electronics, etc.?

If you could let us know the things that you wanted to buy, maybe some of us here could help you out.

Cheers,
Hien

p/s: What is it that you think is dirt cheap in KL?

Hi,

Area around Sukhumvit is a good place for shopping with many stores and plaza. And night market in BKK is a good place too. You can find many local products there with okie price.

A couple more suggestions for Thailand. For electronics in Bangkok you can visit the MBK shopping center, on the Stadium Skytrain stop.

On New Phetchaburi Road, on the same soi (street) that the Baiyoke Tower Hotel is on, there is a mini-garment center. Lots of the street vendors buy their clothes in this area. Also, in this area, almost across the street from this same soi is the Pantip Plaza. The Pantip (or Panthip Plaza) is around 6 floors of electronic equipment.

I agree with the recomendations of the previous msgs. However, I think Singapore may have KL and BKK beat as far as prices and availability. Remember you have to lug this crap home and pay customs on it too. Warranties may also be a problem when something goes wrong back home.

Some of the prices I see posted in the stores in BKK are not too far from what I see on sale back home in the U.S. And you don't have to carry this junk back with you.
