sc0tty has indicated that this thread is about Morocco

Hello all,

I'm hoping to do a trip around the med at the end of the summer in a motorhome starting from spain / morroco and gonig east up to turkey. I just want some general advice as I have never done anything like this before.

What are the odds of getting a motor home across africa, how bad are the roads. I was looking on google maps there seem to be roads in morroco, but i cant see that many roads in libya and the other african counties.

Any comments will help, cheers

Travel agencies have been organising different rallyes in Morocco for a number of years, including Paris Dakar , and Classic ralley (in old cars). Every year scores of German, and others, tourists drive their motorhomes all over Morocco. A favorite destination for the Germans is Agadir and the south of Morocco. There are camps and parking lots for these trailers. The roads are pretty good and safer

best luck

The biggest problem you're going to have is getting across Algeria which is still pretty much no-go because of the very high risk of being attacked/kidnapped etc.

I can tell you that you will have few problems with Moroccan roads. Right to the limits of the Sahara, way up into the heights of the Atlas, there are excellent tarmac roads.

One to avoid would be the Tiz n'Test, as it's very narrow in parts. We still suffer the occasional unrepaired huge pothole, so make sure your spare and jack etc are in good order.

Don't be tempted to stick to the motorway that runs down to Agadir. Try Chefchaouen - Fes - Merzouga - Marrakech - Essaouira, then back up the coast to Tangiers.

Hope this helps. Drop me a line if you need more info.

Remember that the Morocan-Argelian border continues closed as far as I know.

What are the chances of getting a ferry from morocco to tunisia if the borders are still closed when I go, and would they take vehicles on there?
Thanks to every who has posted on here so far, your help is hugely appreciated.

Hi, I don't know if any Morocco-Tunisia ferry exists or not. You can go from Spain to Argelia by ferry. Check Trasmediterranea

Hey, I'm planning on spending some time in Tunisia over June and July this year and was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on costs etc.

Firstly, how much should I budget for in terms of hostels and budget accommodation per nigiht? Also, as a 20 year old female travelling independently, is there anything/place I should be more cautious about (or any advice in general)?

Any comments will be great, thanks!
