maba has indicated that this thread is about Italy

In April, we plan to take a day trip from Sorrento to Positano, Amalfi and up to Ravello.
Our thought was to take the passenger ferry from Sorrento and get off at these stops then go to Ravello. The trip back would be via the coast road on the local bus. Also, are we able to do this from Massalubrense, where we are staying or is it best to go to Sorrento?

Does that sound achievable in one day? Also what would be the recommended sights and attractions we should not miss.

My visit there is not very recent but i know amalfi coast is one of the busiest places in italy, so the choice to take a public bus is good. maybe there is a ferry service as well, i remember i took it in salerno and it makes all the main sites in the amalfi coast. The ideal way to go around there is by scooter.

attractions: well, the landscapes are an attraction in itself.
vietri sul mare is famous for its ceramics, minori has a superb restaurant called "Il Giardiniello" with a fresh veranda outside for the warm season and its specialty is seafood.
Ravello has amazing sights from the top of a mountain and has in Villa Rufolo the main attraction, an ancient villa with great gardens where Wagner composed the Parsifal during his days in Ravello; that's why ravello is also famous for the classical concerts

All in all its a pretty lively place and it can satisfy the need of every kind of visitor, even the party-goers, because there are some nice clubs around and the "lungomare" is a place to make new friends in itself.

Don't miss the limoncello and all the others liqueurs made of fruits.

If you're a bit into art Amalfi has a great duomo, and other historical sites.

It is a beautiful area, we spent 5 days in Praino taking tours to the sites and visiting Amalfi, Capri, and Ravelo. Your plan sounds lovely just account for possible delays. On the Ferry from Capri to Amalfi people who wanted to get off at Positano had to stay on and get off in Amalfi due to high waves, and make their way back to Positano by bus or cab. Also, if there is a bus strike, it can take a long time to get up and back from Ravelo or back to your hotel, and you need to have cab money just in case.

As for sites, I would not miss the isle of Capri/Anacapri. We had lunch at the very top of the island which was wonderful, and others swam by the rocks. In Amalfi, visit the Cathedral and its crypt, and in Ravelo, the first thing you come to is a beautiful and breathtaking garden where we had some of our best pictures and moments of the trip.

Bring dramamine if you tend towards motion sickness. We were fine, but unfortunately had the experience of people getting sick around us on the ferry from the rocky waves and on the bus from the windy roads.

Have a fantastic time!

Maba:

When in April will you be heading there and from where. How are you getting there?

My wife and I actually will be in Rome around April 15th till the 30th and currently have an itinerary for Rome and northern Italy. On the other hand, my wife does want to visit the Amalfi coast.

We are actually on a tour for 2 weeks but on this day (Monday 17th)we have the option of Capri or do our own thing. If we decide against Capri, we will catch the ferry from Sorrento to Positano then Amalfi each leg is about 1/2 hour.

When at Amalfi, go up to Ravello by local bus. Then back to Amalfi & Sorrento via the coast road on public transport (local bus).
Depending on where we are we will have lunch at one of these locations. Apparently, Ravello sounds very beautiful.

We won't be hiring a vehicle or scooter for this day trip. Not confident of driving on the RHs of the road. maybe next trip!

We will decide while on the tour and finalise our plans from our accomodation once we get to Sorento.
