Hey all, just want to say I did ozintro about 5 weeks ago and found it great. wasn't bothered about the activities, just wanted a way to get know people. Ended up travelling to Cairns with 4 others I met in Surfside hostel. they weren't on the same ozintro as me, but they all had been on it on the previous weeks and were really glad they did it as well. Since leaving Sydney, I've had to text Micheal in ozintro about stuff (e.g. I lost mt tax number and didn't know how to go about getting another one)and he came back to me straight away with exactly what to do. And I know throughout the year if any of us have any problems he'll do his best to help us out where ever we are. Would definately recommend ozintro to anyone, especially people travelling alone.
That's great, I'm glad you enjoyed your experience of Oz Intro and is a good example of their service, particularly with Michael's help going far beyond the first week.
I'm thinking of booking with Ozintro aswell and I noticed all the comments saying that its expensive, well I found the EXACT same deal on www.realgap.co.uk for £680!! so I rekun £400 is quite good considering you get all your food, all the help with bank accounts, job etc etc activities. I'm thinking of goin August (not sure what date yet)but if anyone else will be there i'll look out for you!I'm not too fussed about the activities etc,I'm travelling alone so I just wanna make friends and the thought this would be a great idea. Anyone who has done this would you agree?
Gud luck with your travels guys!!
Hi everyone. I spent 8 months in Australia in my 10 month travel trip. I found booking experiences before you go as a positive and a negative. It's fab for meeting people and being organised and knowing what you're doing, but sometimes it would have been nice to travel with others and be more spontaneous. Everyone enjoys different travel ways. You are talking about the first week. Oz intro sounds great for meeting people and settling in mainly. That's a great thing especially if you are travelling alone as it can be daunting. Bare in mind you may be jet lagged though. Everyones different but mine and my friends sleep was messed up for a week and I wouldnt have felt up to a day surf trip on the second day at all! £400 is heaps of money for what you are doing though, booking those in oz, mainly blue mountains and surf trip costing the most but adding everything up you'd be looking at MAX £120 as I have done all of the activities and opened bank etc. But as many have you have said it's a fab start to meet people and you don't really want to be worryng about your bank etc with jetlag just arriving, but then again its a great way to get stuck into your independence doing it yourself! I'll stop babbling now
hey evryone, and hey mike if you read this, iv done the oz intro group and i would of had my first week any other way!!!! the week was great, so simple, got picked up from airpot and then it all took off from there!! great fun filled activities, and lots of fun nights with the group! i supose i was lucky cause we had a great group of people with a good mix. its 400 pounds but if you think about it its really only 320 as your visa is included, so say 300 its great value for money and coogee beach is such a great place to start in sydney and oz!! the helpers mitch n mike are awsome still keep in touch witht he guys for any help or advice i need along with discounts and stuff at a later date in my travels, well basicly if you thinking about it go for it i cant big it up enough folks!!!

I was on Oz Intro last october, same week as Scotty. I've got to be honest, it was the best thing I could've done!
I'm so disorganised that having OzIntro sort my visa, my bank account, tax file number and medicare was a real help. I wouldn't have known where to start!
As for the activities, you may be able to sort your own day trips etc but I still think OzIntro is value for money. I might not have got round to doing the Blue Mountains trip as I'm not really into walking/hiking etc, knowing me I'd have put it off so long until I didn't do it. Also it was a good laugh because I knew half the people on the day trip through OzIntro!
The first day was good, it was nice to know that all I had to do was ring michael when I got to the airport, about 6 of us arrived that morning so we all got chatting in the bus back to the hostel. We had a quick get to know each other chat at the hostel with everyone else then went into the city in the afternoon. Then a few of us went to the pub and ended up on the beach at 3am, had a good laugh and if I'd been on my own I probably would've had an early night - so glad I ignored my jet lag!
The surf day trip was excellent (even though I got sunburned feet!) and to be honest, the place we went to was fab, the beach was beautiful and it was better than I'd imagine surf lessons in manly or bondi to be as it was quieter!
The day trip to Manly was fantastic, I've been back since and found it so easy to go back to the nice little beach we went to....nicer than Manly's main beach which is very busy on a hot day.
The coastal walk from Bondi is something I would never have even considered so it was nice to see the views and be able to take some decent photos to put on my website. I made everyone jealous back home with some of the pics!
The blue mountains as said above is a good day trip, early start but that probably would have put me off doing it on my own! Another plus for OzIntro!
The Route 69 pub crawl was awesome, such a good laugh, everyone getting rather merry. Went to pubs I'd never have found by myself, all of which were great!
The meal at Sydney Tower, although you can book it yourself (I went there with my parents in 2003), it was still a good laugh going with other people. Think about it, no one likes going for a meal alone really, especially somewhere like that so you'd have to find people in your hostel who want to go, who can afford it and then find a day when you're all available!
Basically, if this isn't enough to make you want to go on OzIntro then I don't know what will... But I can definitly recommend it and I'd even recommend trying it if you're just going on a holiday, that way, you do the touristy bit the first week and then you've got the rest of your time to do what you want to do!
I hope there's enough info here to prove to everyone that OzIntro is a great laugh, Michael, Lucy and Mitch (the 3 people I dealt with) are fantastic, they're so helpful, even 3 months later I'm still sending the odd e-mail and txt for advice on travel ideas etc. Michael and Lucy have done backpacking in the past and I've really benefitted from their advice and experience.
Having met up with a few of the group and phonecalls etc. we've all discussed how OzIntro helped us, what our expectations were, and the like, and i'm glad to say that I've got friends I wouldn't have met and that I'm still meeting up with, and that's the best part!
Hello! I just wanted to add that so far I have met four people, (one in Cairns, two in Alice Springs and one in Sydney), and three of those people I'd chatted to previously on Travellers Point and all four had been on OzIntro llike me and knew many of the same people I did. How freaky!
