Travel Forums Asia Help with Vietnam seasons!

Hi,

It seems like every guide book I read says something different about Vietnams seasons, so I thought I'd see if it were much clearer here!

I'm trying to plan when to go and at the moment it looks like I'll be spending the month of May travelling from Hanoi-HCMC and staying there for June, July and August.

What are peoples experiences with Vietnam during these months? I realise it will be monsoon season but wonder if this should put me off, because these months fit perfectly into my other travel plans.

Please help!

Hello Nutburger,

I was talking to someone yesterday who was recently in Vietnam and she got rained on every day all the way from Hanoi to Saigon. In contrast, and if I remember rightly and according to the guide books, we entered Vietnam at the start of the Northern monsoon (mid June), yet we were lucky enough to get good weather all the way from Hanoi to Saigon. By mid July in Saigon it rained in the evening but was generally ok by day...and that's exactly what the monsoon rains are usually like - fine weather until exactly the same time every day when it buckets down for an hour before stopping for the remainder of the day. So overall i'd definitely not let weather reports deter you, especially if it fits so well into your travel plans, as you just never know which way the weather will turn.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you :)

Cheers,
Simon

Dear,

I know you have received many different information about weather in Vietnam but actually it's normal. Nowadays, we are confused too. The weather is really strange and changes all the time. But whatever, believe me it won't be terrible. It not rain as much as it must be on rainy season. And right, it often rains in the evenings around 5pm.
Therefore, just do what you want to do
Cheers,
