We are Australians thinking about buying a campervan in the UK and traveling for 6 -12 months. Does anyone have any tips or hints? Is it better to buy or hire?

UK? 6-12 months? What will you do there with that much time?

BTW, I don't know if you drive right or left in Aussieland, but be aware that a change can be disorienting. I had a hard time as a pedestrian in London, I can only imagine what it will be like for someone driving.

Only able to provide a little information....

The people I know who have been to Oz and had a car as part of their travels found it amazingly cheap to do so compared to being in the UK. I'm not sure how it works over their, slightly different if I've been listening properly, but here you pay your vehicle insurance, road tax and MOT.

Unsure about renting, but if you were looking to buy you could always check www.autotrader.co.uk or something like that for second hand vehicles.

If you plan on driving into very central London at all, which is most certainly not recommended, you will need to pay congestion charge.
