Im planning on doing the 4 day Inca Trail last week of July and im already thinking about booking it now although not sure who with yet.

What i would like to know is what size rucksack did people use to pack their things in and what did they take with them?

Im going travelling for a year and was only planning on taking my 70 litre rucksack with me which has a 5 litre roughly sized bag attached to it and theres no way im taking that much on the trail with me.

Thanks in advance

May I suggest you first take a look at the following, it will answer a lot of your Inca Trail questions
http://www.travellerspoint.com/forum.cfm?thread=19582

I carried a small rucksack - didn't hire a porter for my personal things - which meant I carried my own sleeping bag, mat, change of clothes, etc. all the things the tour company will tell you to bring. You can hire a porter to carry your heavier personal things so all you carry during the day is your daily needs, snacks, repellent, sunscreen.

All Cusco hostels will let you leave your big rucksack with them while you're on the trail.

Thanks Joshua.

Ive just got a reply from SAS and for the 28th July they only have 3 places left so it shows how soon they get booked up.
Good job i have plenty of options for when to do it.

You can hire sleeping bags in Cusco.
